Infrared heat is completely safe and all objects give off and receive infrared heat. In fact, it is so safe, hospitals use similar heaters to warm newborns. Infrared is a part of nature and essential for life. The human body gives off and receives infrared in the far infrared band. When a mother rubs a babies stomach to relieve pain, it is the infrared heat from her hand that is causing the healing effect. We have tuned our True Wave heaters to give off far infrared in this same range for maximum absorption by your body and for maximum therapeutic benefits.
The idea behind infrared therapy is to heat your body directly with far infrared heat. In a traditional sauna you are just sitting in a hot room of 80°C-105°C. In an infrared sauna, the heat is heating your body directly and only 20% of the heat is heating the air. You want to heat your body core, meaning your front core and your back core. Your body absorbs the infrared heat and reacts to it.
The gentle infrared heat raise your core body temperature and stimulates your metabolism, lymphatic system, immune system and your cardiovascular system. Your body’s response to that is to sweat profusely. In addition to the infrared heat triggering a profuse sweat, the water in our bodies also resonates with far infrared heat and this also helps with the detoxification process.
With this in mind, you now understand why we stress the importance of having heaters all around you in an infrared sauna. If you do not have front heaters in your sauna, you will not raise your core body temperature as well and you will not receive as much of the desired effect. All of our Sauna Holm Infrared Saunas have heaters all around you… on your front, back, sides, calves and legs. We call this 360° heat.
The costs to run a hot tub can vary from product to product and also depends on how much a tub is used and the environment the tub is kept in. Sauna Holm hot tubs feature many energy saving features that keep running costs to a minimum.
In principle, pregnant women can use the sauna. In fact, it can have a positive effect on both the pregnancy and the birth. Women who regularly use the sauna can continue to do so throughout their pregnancy. Women who are pregnant but have never used a sauna before should wait until the fourth month of their pregnancy. This is because many pregnancies miscarry during the first three months.
Avoiding the sauna simply means avoiding a guilt trip if the pregnancy were to end in this way following the new experience. Some people voice their concern about vein health. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can sometimes lead to varicose veins. Where this is the case, the veins generally return to normal after the birth. However, whether pregnant or not, varicose veins alone should not hinder people from using a sauna.

If the bath is beeping it may be that there is not enough water in the tub – the water should be above the jets for the whirlpool system to function. Also check the position of the water level sensor as if it is positioned too high and the water does not reach the sensor the whirlpool system will not function.
If there is a buzzing noise like a wasp buzzing it is likely to be the solenoid valve opening the suction inlet to allow water to flow through the pipes – this is perfectly normal. The solenoid valve is like a trap door which opens when the whirlpool system is turned on, it is a hygiene device which prevents water from going through the pipes when the whirlpool is not in use.
If you heard a whirring noise and then the pump cut out, it is highly likely to be the capacitor – we will need to send an engineer to replace this part.
If the pump is running but nothing is coming out of the jets, the breather valve attached to the pump could need replacing. When the valve is faulty it causes an airlock which stops the jets from working.
